Climb3R and LCC:
Sustainable climbing with innovative hold resurfacing

A team dedicated to climbing and sustainability.

LCC: Case Study

In a significant move towards sustainable climbing, Climb3R has joined forces with Andrew York (head setter for London Centres) and Ben Roe (head setter for Northern centres), to achieve their environmental goals. Through this collaboration, Climb3R has resurfaced over 6,000 climbing holds in nine different colours. Including dual-textured options, Climb3R have provided six types of friction from their bespoke solution, Pow3Rtex. This resurfacing initiative plays a pivotal role in reducing landfill waste and promoting eco-friendly practices within the climbing community.

Over 6,000 climbing holds resurfaced across all LCC centres, north and south

Climb3R’s efforts focus on extending the life cycle of climbing holds, which supports environmental sustainability and enhances the climbing experience for users. By employing bespoke resurfacing solutions, Climb3R ensures that each hold maintains its quality and performance, providing climbers an optimal experience.

LCC’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its approach to facility management and maintenance. With Climb3R’s expertise, they are redefining what being a responsible and innovative climbing centre means. The resurfacing of holds is a testament to their commitment to minimising environmental impact while maximising user satisfaction.

Andrew and Ben’s involvement has been crucial in this initiative. Their deep understanding of route setting and the needs of climbers ensures that the resurfaced holds meet the highest standards of safety and usability. This partnership highlights the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable solutions that benefit both the environment and the climbing community.

As LCC continues to prioritise sustainability, Climb3R remains a key partner in their journey. Together, they are setting a new standard for climbing facilities, demonstrating that eco-friendly practices and exceptional user experiences can go hand in hand.
